4 May 02 Last night was the first Submarine birthday ball in Guam in over 20 years. Now that submarines are coming back to Guam the navy has relocated a submarine squadron in Guam. The navy also maintains a submarine tender in Guam. USS Frank Cable is that sub tender and that is my ship. We had a good time at the ball. Vicky and I at the start of the party Our good friends Kirby and Sandy Hallas went to the ball with us. Sandy and Kirby just after the party started.
17 Jan 02 We went out for drinks and dinner with our friends Sandy and Kirby Hallas. Here is a good shot by the poolside at the Hilton. 25 August Now that I have transferred to Guam. I am stationed on USS Frank Cable. It is a submarine tender and it is even larger than the USS Blue Ridge. Here is a picture of Ariel on the bridge. The bridge is bigger than that of the USS blue Ridge also. Joe wants to be captain of the ship when he grows up.
23 May an awards ceremony was held on Blue Ridge for C7F staff. I am shocked that my tour on C7F staff is over. It was a great day for an awards ceremony. VADM Metzger told me that he remembered 16 years ago when he gave me my end of tour award on USS Minneapolis Saint Paul. I was glad that most of the officers in my office got their awards together. Here is a good shot of Kirk, Brett and me after the awards ceremony.
11 May I have finally taken photos of my mask collection. (1) This is probably my best mask. I call it the devil from China (2) I call this mask the little devil from Singapore. (3) I found this bamboo mask in a Buddist temple in China. (4) A friend bought this mask in Thailand and sent it to me. (5) This mask has excellent workmanship. I found it in Singapore but the design is from China. (6) This is my first mask. I got this mask at 3 AM one night in Bali.
